Leuven Boomt! has been dreaming of our own little forest since the start. It would be fantastic to be able to walk among the trees we planted together. And with the support of the City of Leuven, that wonder forest need not remain a dream.
A wonder forest is a small grove designed to bring people from the neighborhood together to enjoy nature. Trees, shrubs and plants are naturally present, but are planted with interaction in mind. Willow huts, seating areas, play zones and climbing trees will make the wonder forest a play-friendly space. You can read much more about how to fill a wonder forest on the Bos+ page.
The biggest challenge is to find a space large enough and suitable for this project. The forest would need a minimum area of 200m² and land in Leuven is unfortunately not abundant.
That's where things are coming along as of now, as Leuven is throwing its weight around. Aldermen of the City have confirmed their support for the project and are looking for a good place to plant the forest. They are investigating a few places as we speak.
